The Rocket Facility - Level Design
The Rocket Facility is a project I worked on during my time in school. The level was created for a FPS game and features simple patrolling enemies, switches, locked doors, and an intuitive puzzle near the end of the level.
Below you can find images and documents that give further details on the design and creation of this level. The level can also be downloaded and played for free on my itch.io here!

Initial Top Down Sketch
My initial goal was to create a linear level that would fit a FPS genre type of game. The Rocket Room and its puzzle was developed first, while the other sections were developed later. Each section was developed to feel unique and have an easy way to be easily distinguishable from each other.
v0.2 - Initial Whitebox Modifications
After the level whitebox was created, I made slight modifications to the layout now that I was able to see it in 3D. Many of the changes were made to make the level feel more intuitive but also give the player more freedom as to how they travel throughout the sections within the level.
v0.3 - Asset Pass
During the first asset pass I was primarily focused on replacing most of the BSP brush with static meshes. This included adding furniture and other large objects. Smaller objects were added to better sell the themes of each area.
v0.4 - Light Pass
During the lighting pass I was attempting to achieve a realistic and cinematic look for many of the rooms. Lighting for certain objects/areas were added to help highlight areas of importance for the player.
v1.0 - Polishing
The final release of the level involved adding more details throughout the level. Assets were strategically placed to form environmental storytelling and minor adjustments to the level geometry and lighting were also made.
